Pupils at Westlands Primary begin their independent reading journey via FFT’s Success for All Phonics programme. It is a complete Systematic Synthetic Phonics (SSP) programme validated by the DfE.
Success for All Phonics provides fully decodable reading books, daily phonics and reading lessons, picture cards and mnemonics for letter formation. All of which, support the effective teaching of phonics from EYFS to the end of Year 1.

SUAT supports and leads in the set-up of new academies joining the partnership. The services provided by the central support function cover both educational and non-educational support. In terms of educational support, SUAT is linked to the School of Education of Staffordshire University, which is an outstanding ITT provider.
