Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government and allocated to schools to raise the attainment of pupils eligible for free school meals. This additional resource is used to reduce underlying inequalities which may be encountered during the child’s education. Each school has the autonomy to decide how these funds are allocated within the school year, however; transparency is of paramount importance and each school is required to clearly detail how the resource is spent alongside its impact on the students and their families. Specifically, schools are now obligated to outline the provisions provided online for each academic year. In the financial year 2020 – 2021, Westlands Primary School received a Pupil Premium payment of £33,625.

If you think your child might be entitled to free school meals you can register by completing an application form that can be obtained from the school office. Forms can be returned to the school office along with the required evidence as listed on the form. Please do this even if you do not intend your child to have free school meals.

You are entitled to Free School Meals if you are in receipt of Income Support, an Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, an Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance, Child Tax Credit (only if you do NOT receive Working Tax Credit), Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit.
