Year 2 have had a busy start to the spring term completing 3D sculptures using clay. They have practised different skills including rolling, shaping, pressing and flattening the clay. The children have used various tools to decorate the clay with and they’ve learnt how to use ‘score and slip’ to join pieces of clay together. They created pinch pots and then painted these. We also looked at the work of sculptor Rachel Whiteread where she used positives (adding on to shapes) and negatives (pressing into shapes) to create our own house tile. We are very proud of the finished products!
