We’ve had a busy start to our Summer Term in Year 1.

In English we have been making a class book all about Space. First of all we investigated the main features of an information book and even had a go at writing captions for photos. Then everyone worked really hard to research a planet or feature of the Solar System and used the Ipads to find photographs before constructing their page with their partners.

In Science we have been developing our knowledge of Plants and what they need to help them grow. We have looked at the main parts of a plant and have been on walks around our school grounds to find common garden and wild plants and to identify evergreen and deciduous trees. For the past few weeks we have been observing our own bean plants as they have grown and kept a plant diary to show the changes we have seen!

In Art we have been looking at the work of artist ‘Andy Goldsworthy’ and creating our own sculptures from natural materials.

Next half term we are looking forward to learning how to tell the time, creating healthy fruit smoothies, visiting our new classes in preparation for September and doing some super athletics on Sports Day!

A great job Year 1!
